a better class of criminal

I recently ordered KKM novels 14 & 15, and even though they haven't arrived yet (mail is always extremely slow on holidays you know) they had first 13 pages of Novel 14 available for preview on amazon.jp, so I thought, why not share the translation here? ^__^ I am gonna translate more as soon as I get my hands on the books, (which might not happen for a while though), but I think it's nice to have at least small bits of it translated. ...Especially if those bits contain lovely descriptions of Wolfram XDDD
Well anyways, here is the part that I've translated.

Novel 14,
Chapter 1

Disclaimer: I do not own these amazing characters and this awesome story and do not intend to make any profit from sharing this translation here.
Small recap: Yuri stabbed Wolf at the end of Novel 13. The scene takes place right after that moment.
Notes: I'm sure I made mistakes, but I did my best :) whenever it's unclear who's speaking, I indicate it with a name of character between slashes, like this --> /Conrad/

That was certainly his voice. I heard my own name called too. However, it was someone else's voice, not Wolfram's or mine.

"Are you ok? Hey, where have you been stabbed?!"

I'm asking to confirm what I already know. The one who injured him is me.

Wolfram, who was crouching, let out a short growl and stood on both feet.

His rounded back straightened a little and he separated his body from my arm.

Confused I tried to reach for his silhouette, and went for the bright sunlight that was coming down from above the ground.

"Wait, Wolfram, where are you... ?"

I stretched my left arm and reached out towards the place where his body seemed to be.

It felt like a torn piece of cloth to the touch, as though torn by some animal.

My index finger got wet with something warm. I rubbed my hands, they were sticky.

"I'm sorry, I'm really...."

Wolfram tried to step back, I pulled him closer, hugging his waist with my right arm and putting my left palm over his stomach.

I've gathered the heat on the skin and between our skins (? I think he means the place where his hand is touching Wolfram's waist) and then I will distribute and make it flow here. A sharp pain hit my arm when I ran it up.

I was healed this way many times. Even I should be able to do it, if I do exactly the same. Gisela and Anissina taught me how to do and wasn't I able to do it before?

"Stop it!" /Wolfram/

I was thrust away with a strong force and my back hit the ground with a clinking sound. Propping on both elbows I raise the upper half of my body.

"Don't touch me!"

Of course I couldn't see the expression on his face so I couldn't judge, but it was obvious he was angry. It was in his emotions and his voice.

Because we are in a well lit place his silhouette is very clear. Even though it's not the same honey  color, which I could see when I had perfect eyesight, he's still shining with golden color against the surroundings. However, his body was ashen gray color, considering it is him, I realized that he was wearing unusual clothes. Perhaps, that was the reason why I got confused.

"I'm sorry. I was mistaken, I didn't think it was you.."

On the bridge that was still in the dim part of the field of my sight another silhouette fell. Not exactly "fell". I just couldn't see clear, but it was certainly someone's robe.

It was Conrad's voice. He seemed to be in a hurry.

Passing Wolfram who stood still, he came closer to me still lying on my back and squatted down as though to look me in the eyes. Thanks God, now we'll be able to treat Wolfram's injury.

"I'm happy (you're here), Conrad, Wolf's injury is very bad. Please, help me, hold him down while I'm applying my hands (to his injury)."

"Wolfram is fine. His clothes and torso are barely cut. Thanks to amulet case the wound is not deep. There's nothing Your majesty should be troubled about."

"But that blood!"

"It is your blood."

"You have a cut on your palm. And not only that."

I pull my shoulder a bit roughly. During that a sharp pain runs through the right side of my body. I moan unintentionally. After a short apology I lose all my strength, but the firm tone of my voice doesn't change.

"What is it?..."

Without giving me time to ask again Conrad turns back and shouts.

"Yes, your Excellency."

At that moment one more person's silhouette appeared.

The big one moving towards us in a hurry must be Captain Sizemore. Even ancestors could hardly predict that this family who lives in the sea would be invited to the land where there's only sand around. He is extremely out of place.

"Do we have a piece of cloth to treat His majesty's injury?"

Conrad ordered to Sizemore, "Seize him."

The silhouette that looked like Captain stopped moving and asked, "Whom?"

He wasn't able to hide confusion.

"Lord von Bielefeld. He injured His Majesty. We can't let him come close."

This time it was my turn to be confused.

"Wait a second, it's not like that, Conrad! It's a misunderstanding."

"Whatever reason it was, but Wolfram was pointing his sword at you. That is inexcusable. You haven't noticed, but your right shoulder is injured."

When I was told that I remembered. We were both pointing (crossing) swords at each other. When I got sword in my hands, at the very same time he grasped his sword. Did we strike each other at the same time?

"Didn't you hear me?!" Lord Weller said once again to a confused and hesitating Sizemore.

After that Captain's hair which has already been thin seemed to diminish even further. Because now there were two people giving orders.

"There is no reason to listen to it!" /Wolfram/

A small wind blew on my cheek, did Wolfram move his arm when he said those words? He can move so casually, like always. And there is strength in his voice. My hand gently brushed my chest.

/Wolfram/ "Don't misunderstand, Lord Weller. They are Shin Makoku's soldiers. They won't listen to your orders. Sizemore, there is no need to arrest me. However, take me under surveillance, and if I try to get close to His Majesty you can use full force to stop me."

I wasn't the only person who seemed relieved. How many loyal soldiers will choose an easier order to obey? Captain Sizemore obviously had a relieved expression.

"It is fine that we have to stop you, however, why is that, Your Excellence?..."

Surely, that last part got me worried. Because I am the same.

"There is no need for you to know." /Wolfram/

"Wait a sec, Wolf, what is this surveillance thing for?Why can't you be allowed to come close to me? And, more important, why are you here? Explain everything. How are we supposed to understand if you're not telling anything?!"

~ end~

That was so short, wasn't it?... But it's still nice to see the interaction between Conrad, Wolf and Yuri. Conrad seems hostile, I wonder why, and Yuri trying to heal Wolf without thinking how he himself was hurt is touching, and then his "sunlight and golden color" descriptions of Wolfram as opposed to shadows for everyone else .... XDDD -is fangirling-

Yuuri's flowery words when he described Wolf was sooo love!
27th-Dec-2008 10:54 am (UTC)
faint, but i can feel Yuuri actually cares for Wolfram
i just heart the novel more than the anime even though i never read it, but there's person on ff who said that the novel's Wolfram is more more dark than the anime and Yuuri is not a dense as the anime
27th-Dec-2008 12:15 pm (UTC)
I think Yuri cares alot ^___^

From what I've read in different translations and discussions Wolfram is very devoted, strong and not at all as 'loud' as in the anime. It seems to me that Yuri unconsciously found a role model in him. I also think that Yuri didn't understand how strong Wolfram was for quite a while, partially because Yuri 'defeated' him when he was forced to prove he was a real Maoh and also because Wolfram looks cute and the same age as him. But whenever Yuri speaks of him now I think it's easy to see a great deal of admiration in his words.
Dunno, that's how I feel about them, even though I'm obviously biased, coz I love Wolfram very much XD

*fangirling with you* Ooh, thank you very much for this :D I really enjoy reading the interaction between Yuuri and Wolfram <3

didn't like Conrad there either :/ there probably is a good reason for his actions, but I haven't seen the rest of the book and haven't even read the one before it, so I am very curious about the tension between brothers myself.
Maybe someone who knows what happened can explain without spoiling too much ^_^

Conrad is a lot like that in the novels, he is very Yuuri centered there and whoever harms him be it his own blood relative, is an enemy.

But it's cute, I should point out that there is a reason why Wolfram is not allowing Yuuri to heal him...
Any case this novel was full of WolfYuu (especially the bed part later XD) and of angst, if you like Yuuri angsting because Wolfram is keeping him far you'll like the novel XD
27th-Dec-2008 01:09 pm (UTC)
this kind of Conrad actually makes more sense to me... The anime one often looks (to me) like a creepy adult with an ever present smile on his face >_< I will be glad to know about his character and motives a little more. Maybe I'll even like him XD if he's a really bad guy

Any case this novel was full of WolfYuu (especially the bed part later XD)

Gosh, you've left me with high hopes and crying coz I won't be able to see the books before mid January (most likely).. damn, fate is cruel
but thanks for telling about all that stuff anyways XD made me happy that I ordered them

Captain Sizemore just sounds...wrong.

He must be iconed! XDDD
27th-Dec-2008 01:15 pm (UTC)
I know it's awkwardly funny. Honestly I didn't know how to translate katakana into English name that wouldn't sound wrong XD and I didn't want to write it as Saidzumoah
27th-Dec-2008 01:59 pm (UTC)
Aww, Yuuri trying to heal Wolfram.
Now, that's love. ♥
I love how he descripes how he's holding Wolfram and such.
Yuuri is just more mature in the novels and so is Wolf.

Conrad is just a meanie. >.<

hehe let's fangirl together XDDDDD
I love all the details Yuri mentions when he's refering to Wolfram XDD Love indeed

I have that novel!! Even though I don't understand Japanese. It's just for decoration in my room ^^;;

Thanks so much for translating it!! <33333 Now I can read it while referring to your translation.
27th-Dec-2008 04:17 pm (UTC)
lucky you! ^_______^ don't know why I didn't order mine earlier... well, I do actually XD i was afraid that I wouldn't understand it, but then I saw it had furigana over most difficult kanji and realized that I had to get it. But now I'll have to wait till about mid January for the order to arrive ;____; to long...
I'm glad you liked the translation, I'll do more when I get the novels ^__^

Thanks for all the hard work! ^3^

27th-Dec-2008 05:48 pm (UTC)
I have no idea what's going on there, but I can't wait to find out for myself! :D
27th-Dec-2008 06:05 pm (UTC)

27th-Dec-2008 06:53 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the translation! I remember that the novels were supposed to start being translated... have they yet?
27th-Dec-2008 06:59 pm (UTC)
you mean translated oficially? have no idea. even if they do release them in English, they'll probably have each out every 4-6 months, that means it'll take 5-8 years to publish 16 books ^____^ thinking about that almost makes laugh...
27th-Dec-2008 08:46 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much for the translation. I like seeing all the novel versions of the characters; in the anime Yuri seems static compared to what I hear about in the novels and I like this mature wolfram. I'm kind of torn regarding Conrad because in the anime I've always found his other relationships more interesting than the one with Yuri.

I would like to see more Gwendal too; I particularly want more background on his and Wolfram's fathers without Dunhealy Weller becoming the Gary Stu husband.
27th-Dec-2008 10:07 pm (UTC)
Wow, thanks a lot for your translation! The stabbing scene, and the whole novel after it, is famous among Wolyuu fans - so it's great to actually read it. And it's so beautiful! I don't care what Yuuri says, it's so freakin obvious how much he depends on Wolfram. I don't even want to say it's like the traditional fairytale "true love". He never looked to Wolf for romance - just for friendship. But their friendship has grown so strong that he just can't bear to be apart from Wolf. It isn't a sexual love, and he probably is 100% straight. But that doesn't mean Wolfram can't be the most important person in his life. And it seems, to me at least, that this is who Wolfram has become to him: More than a friend, but not quite a lover; a life partner whose relationship with him breaks all boundaries.

But then again, I may be looking waaaaaaayyyy too deeply into things. xD

I have to agree with you, too, about all you said about novel!Conrad. I can't say he's suddenly my favorite character, or even that I really like him (yet). But he feels much more human than his anime counterpart.
28th-Dec-2008 11:28 am (UTC)
Yeah, I agree with you a lot! With everything actually, though I'm not that sure what to think about the relationship between Yuri and Wolfram, it's so lovely to see that Yuri really thinks at least something of Wolfram and that something is very different from the others. Like he's the light and other are shadows like someone already said here before. And not only that but everything else too and I'm just sooooooo happy! I love the novels. I really do. I'd love to read them someday fully translated...it just might be the day when I'm sixty. --' But anyway, because there's amazing people like you niveous_magics I get to read at least something of them and even something is good, 'cause the novels just're so good! Really. I love the characters, even though I don't like Conrad eather, he's more real in the novels and a very good character. Just like Yuri! I feel very bad for him though, 'cause he's blind and nobody explains him everything. Actually I really like Yuuri in the novels, 'cause in the anime he's just so lame. Boring and naive! But here he's so much deeper character and I love the way the novels are mostly told of his point of view...like the way tells about Wolfram...*----*.

I was just supposed to say thank you, but I ended up saying a lot more. Sorry! But I have just found lately how great these novels are and I've decided that they're the best KKM there is. Not the anime nor the manga, but the novels.

But yes; thank you so much for translating! I really appreciate it. This really made me happy. 8)
